'Save water': fan's social message for Madhuri Dixit's birthday

An ardent Madhuri Dixit fan, who has been celebrating the actress' birthday for two decades here, has launched a 'save water' campaign in this parched city ahead of the Bollywood diva's 46th birthday on May 15.

A small chaat shop owner, Pappu Sardar, who starts his day with worshipping the portrait of Madhuri, has launched the campaign by putting up banners in the city including one before his shop at Sakchi and another in front of 'Cheshire Home', a home for differently abled women, at Sundernagar.

The banners with Madhuri's photo appealed to the people to save water.

The 42-year-old Pappu said he would distribute around 5000 cards with 'save water' message among the people to motivate them to save water.

"We have failed to check corruption but can save water unitedly considering it as nectar," Pappu said.

Besides the usual free distribution of chat on the birthday of the Dhak Dhak girl, he said he would distribute over 500 earthen pots of two litre capacity filled with water on May 15.

Apart from that, he said, around 2000 water bottle of 500 ml will also be distributed among Madhuri fans, inmates of 'Cheshire Home' and an old-age home to mark the occasion.

To celebrate the diva's birthday, Pappu earlier arranged marriages of poor girls and installed cold water machines in old-age home and Cheshire Home.

For years, the chat owner release a calendar beginning with May 15, the birthday of Madhuri.

This year, the calendar would be dedicated to the memory of film maker Yash Chopra who directed Dil to pagal hai in 1997 starring Madhuri, Shah Rukh Khan and Karishma Kapoor.

Fan celebrates Madhuri Dixit's birthday in Ranchi

Ranchi, May 15 (ANI): A die-hard fan of Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit celebrated her 46th birthday with fervour in Ranchi on Wednesday.
Pappu Sardar, the owner of a food stall in Ranchi, organised a lavish party at midnight, which began with a prayer session and ended with dance and jubilation on the streets.
Having setup a make-shift tent, Sardar had displayed several photographs of Dixit and prayed for her success, before cutting a cake on her behalf.
"It is now 18 years since I have been celebrating Madhuri Dixit's birthday and the only reason for that is the love I have for my sister. We celebrate her birthday with immense joy. I would also make sure that I continue to celebrate her birthday in a grand manner in the coming years," said Sardar.
Madhuri Dixit is widely regarded as one of the best actresses in the Hindi film industry. Having made her acting debut in 1984, Dixit was a rage in the 90's giving one superhit after another.
Some of her mega blockbusters include, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Devdas.
Dixit has won six Filmfare Awards (top Bollywood awards), which include four for best actress, one for best supporting actress and the final one was a special award for completing 25 years in Bollywood.
Known for her beaming smile and enviable dancing skills, Dixit also holds the record for the highest number of best actress nominations -- 13.
Unlike her peers, Dixit tied the knot at the peak of her career in 1999 to Shriram Chandra Nene, a doctor by profession and moved to the US. She is now a mother of two.
In 2008, she was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award and she shifted back to India in 2011. (ANI)
